King of the Royal Mounted

Famous western story writer Zane Grey created this popular newspaper adventure strip, which began in 1935 as a Sunday page and expanded into daily newspapers the following year. The stories were action-packed and full of North Woods color, while Allen Dean's excellent drawings rose to the high King Features standard.

Presently the only available presentation of this unjustly-forgotten newspaper comic classic is Pacific Comics Club's reprint of the King Feature Book from the late 1930s. It's a good introduction to the strip and a worthy addition to the adventure strip fan's bookshelf.

Mandrake the Magician

Writer Lee Falk had a hand in two of the most influential adventure strips of all time. Both The Phantom and Mandrake the Magician had a powerful effect on the early American comic books. The Phantom was one of the first masked comic heroes, establishing the pattern for "long underwear" characters to this very day.

Mandrake, though not as famous today, was equally popular. Early comic books swarmed with top-hatted magicians trying to follow Mandrake's mighty footsteps.

Pacific Comics Club offers three replicas of Large Feature Books collecting some of the magic master's greatest adventures. Inventive stories and the atmospheric artwork of unjustly-forgotten Phil Davis make these books a treat for strip aficionados. Replica format: 8.5x11", 72 pages.

Radio Patrol

The brand-new radio-dispatched police cars inspired newspapermen Eddie Sullivan and Charlie Schmidt to create this fast-moving, enjoyable cop strip. Schmidt's artwork is solid and full of a sense of time and place. Sullivan's scripts are a cut above the typical crime strip. Radio Patrol ran successfully for many years.
