Mandrake the Magician
by Lee Falk and Phil Davis
Writer Lee Falk had a hand in two of the most influential adventure strips of
all time. Both The Phantom and Mandrake
the Magician had a powerful effect on the early American comic books.
The Phantom was one of the first masked comic heroes, establishing the pattern
for "long underwear" characters to this very day. Mandrake, though not as famous today, was equally popular. Early comic
books swarmed with top-hatted magicians trying to follow Mandrake's mighty footsteps.
Pacific Comics Club offers three replicas of Large Feature Books collecting some of the magic master's greatest adventures. Inventive stories and the atmospheric artwork of unjustly-forgotten Phil Davis make these books a treat for strip aficionados. Replica format: 8.5x11", 72 pages.
