Mystery and comics writer Max Allan Collins, creator of Ms. Tree and Road to Perdition, wrote Dick Tracy for fifteen years following Chester Gould's death. Collins cleaned out a lot of the stranger aspects of Gould's later years (like the Moon people) and steered the strip back toward tough cops-and-criminals action. His work was controversial at times, but most people agree it was a good period for the lantern-jawed crimefighter.

This new series reprints the Collins stories from their beginning. Three volumes are currently available.
